Kilikanoon, Clare Valley (South Australia) Shiraz 2018

 Kilikanoon’s vineyards are located in Clare Valley in South Australia.  The climate features warm days and cool nights, which is why the region is famous for its dry Riesling wines.  It is also a good climate for Shiraz like this one with a dark ruby black color which introduces forward, juicy black plum, blackberry and cherry aromas with a touch of mint, caramel and a whisper of smoke.  The black fruit flavors are concentrated in the mouth and beautifully balanced with bright acidity and refined tannins.  The winery was created in 1997 by Kevin Mitchell.  His father, Mort, had planted vineyards of Shiraz, Cabernet, Grenache and Riesling in the 1960s.  They are now Kilikanoon’s estate vineyards.
