Laurel Glen makes wines of balance; a cooler-climate alternative to stereotypical big, fruity California red wines. The complex nose shows both dark fruits of cassis and black cherry and bright red currant. Layers of restrained toasty oak, anise, green herbs and mineral create depth. The tannins are moderate and smooth. The wine maintains focus and clarity through the long finish. This wine is good now, but a couple of years aging will offer rewards.
