Unlike most of New Zealand’s wine country, Central Otago is a region known for Pinot Noir rather than Sauvignon Blanc. This example of Pinot from Loveblock is a graceful and pretty wine, with notes of strawberry and other red fruits accented by suggestions of damp, mushroomy earthiness plus hints of vanilla, cola and cinnamon. Because it is distinctively dry, with notable acidity, it pairs will with a variety of dishes including rotisserie chicken, meatballs, and pizza.
