A long time winemaker friend likes to call Petite Sirah “blueberry diesel fuel,” and it is a description that has stuck with me over the years, and it often presents itself in the glass. This offering does just that and adds a pepper back note to the bold blueberry fruit. It is tannic as expected, but it is relatively approachable now. Nothing dubious about the quality here. Go for bold cheeses or a fatty prime rib slab as a pairing partner.
