Made 100% from Lacrima which is an ancient variety rarely seen outside of the Morra d’Alba region in the Marche. It is also known to be challenging to grow, but this wine is definitely unusual which validates the special efforts taken to grow it. At the top of the Marotti Campi line, this “Superiore” is aged for 12 months in mature barrels. In the glass it is deep and dark, and the aroma is a wild combination of dark berries, rose petals and juniper laced with exotic spices. On the palate the flavors are juicy berry with notes of thyme and light tobacco leaf. Medium full-bodied, it feels round and soft with gentle tannins as a backdrop. Enjoy now through 2027.
