Petit Verdot as a stand-alone variety can be a bit simple, but that’s certainly not the case here, where clearly a great harvest date choice with an eye on preserving fresh acidity makes for a lively wine that balances the black fruit character with an edgy zestiness. Prime Rib is begging to be seated next to this wine.
