Monte Xanic, Valle de Guadalupe (Mexico) Chenin Colombard 2019

Aug 3, 2021

By Miranda Franco

Monte Xanic has grown into one of the largest wineries in Mexico.  It is located on the northern edge of the Valle de Guadalupe and sits on a bed of granite that helps bring about crisp, textured, aromatic wines like this Baja blend of 98 percent Chenin Blanc and two percent Colombard.  It is crisp on the nose with aromas of nectarines, tangerines, apricots and white flowers jumping out of the glass.  The aromatics are met with a rich mouthfeel and flavors of citrus peel, freshly picked green apple, grapefruit, lime, and lychee.  The wine’s ample amounts of zesty acidity lead to a lingering and lip-smacking finish.
