There isn’t a lot of domestic Carmenere being bottled as a stand alone variety, and if you’re a fan of the Chilean offerings, you may want to give this wine a go. It’s perfectly herbaceous on the nose, with mixed chilis, redfruit, dusty minerality and pie spice all well integrated. On the palate, the chilis and dust are out in front, with bright cherry and some dill backing them up. The finish is soft and mouthwatering, suggesting a pairing of spicy chili — Colorado style! Very interesting wine.
