This grape in this locale is producing a completely different style of wine than it does in its native Piedmont, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not great stuff. The nose shows deep plum and spice character, with soft notes of herb and earth in play as well. On the palate, it’s quite dry, but bold in flavor and acidity, delivering red plum, crushed rock and subtle spice and herb notes, all comingling in a long finish that keeps you coming back to the glass.
