This is a wine for lovers of dense and intense powerhouse Cabernets, and that is a very big category of wine consumers. Oak lovers will likewise find a lot to like in this release, which is a suggestion that you should lay this down to settle and integrate if you aren’t prepared for a one-two wallop from your wine. To be clear and candid, I’m not damning this with faint praise but rather trying to be clear about who will be happy with this once it has been uncorked. If you like old Bordeaux, this is not your thing. If your preferred birthday meal is a charcoal-grilled tomahawk steak, this is the ticket, and the fact is that you’ll get as much pleasure from this bottle as you might from a Napa Cabernet costing four times as much. No kidding.
