Aromatic and crisp, this lovely Sancerre is a perfect aperitif as well as a very tasty partner for seafood (I recently enjoyed it with a simple roast Branzino, which was an altogether tasty match). Like all Sancerre, Roche des Lumières is made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes, but the Loire region’s expression of the grape is typically very different from, say, that of New Zealand or California. 2019 was mostly an excellent vintage in Sancerre, resulting in wines that are fragrant, full of charm, stony and lemony, and crisp but not tart.
