Pecchenino, Dolcetto di Dogliani (Piedmont, Italy) 2008

Sep 8, 2010

By Michael Franz

Soft, sweet and very tastefully extracted and crafted, this is a textbook example of a wine that was made in a generous style but with restraint as well.  Notes of dark cherries and plums are vivid and very expressive, and the wine’s texture makes it seem open and inviting.  There’s enough tannin to provide a sense of grip and definition in the finish, but the overall impression of soft sweetness never leaves the forefront.
