Pedroncelli, Dry Creek Valley (Sonoma County, California) Cabernet Sauvignon “Wisdom” 2021 ($60)

It has been said that if you ask for wisdom, you should expect trials that will teach you wisdom, and that you should know that it doesn’t come quickly. The Pedroncelli family has farmed the particular plot of land this wine is sourced from for nearly 60 years, replanting it to clone 4 Cabernet Sauvignon in 2002. The vines bring real concentration at around twenty years of age — when handled wisely of course — and that shows here, with deep color and intensity of black and blue fruit character. Malbec adds a savory note, and twenty months in barrel rounds everything out. It is ready to pop and pour, or cellar up to 7 years for full integration. Contains 13% Malbec.
