Poggio al Casone is a small estate, only 40 acres, and focused on making red blends from their estate fruit. Made from 90% Teroldego, a red grape from the Alto Adige region in Northern Italy, this wine shows incredible minerality including crushed rocks, wet iron-rich red clay, and graphite notes. La Cattura drinks very dry but has a burst of tart red fruit – cranberry and pomegranate – that supports the wine’s minerality, tobacco leaf, and smoke note. Tuscan wines are in part about finding new ideas and bringing them to the market, and that is exactly what Poggio al Casone presents with La Cattura.
