The wines of Croatia are little known in the US market, but this one will be a most pleasing introduction. Made from Frankovka grapes – better known as Blaufränkisch – and grown in the inland province of Slavonija, the wine is affordable and attractive. The Pomalo 2023 Rosé combines juicy fruit, a lively style and a refreshing, dry finish. The aromas are forward and fresh, with pure strawberry, raspberry and cherry fruits supported by hints of herbs, citrus peel and spice. Juicy, ripe and forward on the palate, its delicious berry and cherry flavors are enhanced by the herb, lemon zest and subtle spice nuances. It is a perfect choice for warm weather fare.
