Right up front I will admit to extremely limited experience with the Saperavi grape. That said, if you love wine like I do, it’s the experience in the glass in the moment that is the most important one, and at this moment I’m enjoying this wine quite a bit. The nose shows mixed wild berries, pepper and some bay leaf, and these all show as palate flavors in a rustic style, with chalky tannins keeping the fruit and savory characteristics coming. Try it where you might initially think Côte-Rôtie for a unique twist.
