Bruwer Raats founded Raats Family Wines in 2000, focusing on Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. He purchased land in the Polkadraai Hills of Stellenbosch, considered undesirable at the time, but the granite-rich soils quickly proved to be ideal for exceptional wine production. Today, this area is regarded as one of Stellenbosch’s finest. This Bordeaux-style blend showcases the brilliance of Cabernet Franc, bursting with vibrant notes of fresh cherry, plum, cassis, and a touch of earthy graphite. The Malbec contributes a luscious fruit profile and a rich mouthfeel. A herbal and mineral backbone enhances the complexity, while the finish lingers on the palate.
