Ratti, Barolo DOCG (Piedmont, Italy) 2016

 This 100 percent Nebbiolo is soaringly aromatic, with lots of rose petals and red cherry fruit beginning to appear.  In the glass, it is medium-bodied, balanced, and delicate for a Barolo.  The palate delivers cherry, crushed raspberry and faint cedar blended with notes of cinnamon, red licorice, and black tea.  Nebbiolo’s notorious tannins are graceful here, and the backbone of acidity will preserve this wine for the long term.
