After making wines with Marco Cirillo in the Barossa Valley, American-born winemaker Sierra Reed became enchanted with the beauty of the old vine Barossa Grenache. Her 2020 “Alexia” Grenache is see-through ruby red in the glass. It unfurls gradually with a complex medley of aromas of dried rose petals, brambly red berries, a hint of bright strawberry candy, and damp earth. On the palate, bright, juicy red fruit and savory mineral nuances flow right through to the finish. You should plan to have some close at hand, as the Alexia is easy-drinking and completely irresistible.
