Santa Carolina, Rapel Valley (Chile) Carmenère 2008

Jan 13, 2010

By Michael Franz

This very solid wine offers lots of flavor and fun for the money.  Although it is a bit simple, with dark-toned fruit that is juicy and ripe, there’s enough oak in the mix to keep it from seeming chunky and obvious.  The wood and some notable tannin provide grip in the finish, but the overall feel is still plush, soft, and well suited to braised red meats.
