On the palate, this classic Italian wine shows off red fruits (cherries, plums) with a hint of earthiness spicing things up. It offers subtle appetite inducing tannins although the texture is relatively smooth. Chianti Classico is a natural partner for food, especially if mushrooms are involved — mushroom ravioli, for example, is a particularly fine fit here. The wine will certainly be good with most meat and game dishes, and it fits well with a variety of cheeses.
