From their vineyard planted in the 1980s, the Sobons have been working with Viognier longer than most winemakers. Over the years the winery has turned out attractive, balanced Viogniers that avoid over-ripeness and high alcohol. Barrel fermented in neutral oak, this is a ready to drink wine with aromas of peach, melon and lychee nut that lead to a round, creamy, medium-bodied palate. The flavors take on a hint of dried apricot but are alive and fresh. There’s just enough acid to lengthen the aftertaste. A reliable Viognier that pairs well with Asian cuisine.
