Stina, Island of Brac (Croatia) 2018

Nov 17, 2021

By Miranda Franco

If you haven’t ventured to try Croatian wine, this would be a perfect start.  This blend of Plavac Mali, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot has the strong character associated with Plavac Mali and the finesse of the other varieties.  It is well balanced and has a nice weight on the palate, offering flavors of plum, cassis, pomegranate, and dark berries.  The finish is bright, with a bristle of bold-yet-velvety tannins.  This wine demonstrates that Plavac Mali and other grapes in Croatia can produce incredible wines, and winemakers there are working hard to discover their true potential.  So, let’s help them along by drinking them and spreading the word!
