Sutherland Vineyards, Elgin Valley (Cape South Coast, South Africa) Pinot Noir 2021

 Elgin, located 45 miles southeast of Cape Town, is one of South Africa’s cooler wards.  With 200 to 400m of altitude and cooler summer breezes, the cooler climate helps its vines retain acidity during the ripening process.  Sutherland’s Elgin Pinot Noir shows incredible minerality with crushed rocks and wet concrete notes balanced against cranberry and dried rose petals.  With a price tag under $30, this wine outperforms most similarly priced wines.
