Thistle and Weed is a collaboration between the Terblanche and Wiid families established in 2015, led by Etienne Terblanche (Viticulturist) and Stephanie Wiid (Winemaker). The 2020 Thistle and Weed Knapsekêrel Cabernet Franc announces itself with enticing brambly fruit — crushed blackberry and black and red cherry underpinned by spicy tones of cracked peppercorn and smoked chili peppers. A granitic minerality runs through it all. It is energetic and satisfying, with chalky tannins closing out the layered and slightly spicy finish.
