There’s a big smoked meat nose thanks to heavy oak char — quite unusual for this variety — but the fruit comes steamrolling through in the finish. Blackberry and rich oak spice aromas and flavors ride supple tannins and a moderate grip through an extended finish. This is a stylized, age worthy wine that’s goes outside the box in a good way.
