Trailside Vineyard, Rutherford – Napa Valley (California) Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 ($225)

A project of Lawrence Estates’ Carlton McCoy and Domaine Dujac’s Jeremy Seysses, this incorporates the vineyard label once used by Heitz. The wine is enjoyable but somewhat different for a Rutherford in that it has very tangy purple fruits – ripe and almost-ripe blackberries – and a bit of cream at mid-palate. Noticeable but integrated tannins. Available by subscription.
