Trothe wines come exclusively from Andrews Family Vineyards, which the family has farmed for generations, in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA of Washington State. Although only available through their website, the public should be aware of these bold wines because they have a measure of elegance despite their size. This Grenache, for example, weighing in at a 15 percent stated alcohol, will not be to everyone’s taste because of its intensity, but for that style it is remarkably elegant, and given a day of aeration, amazingly complex. Be sure to serve it at cellar, not room, temperature — you may need to chill it a bit — otherwise the alcohol will show. Save this one for January with cassoulet!
