Like the other Trothe bottlings, their plummy Syrah is bold, delivering ripe, black fruit flavors spiced with a hint of black pepper. The velvety texture, which seems to be Trothe’s hallmark, makes the wine strikingly suave, yet with enough structure so it’s not flabby. This muscular and youthful Syrah was best after being opened for a day, which allowed it to be far more expressive and multifaceted.
