Here is a vintage port that is approachable already and promises to evolve over many years, though I’m inclined not to wait too long the way I might with some ports of this quality. Baked orange peel and soft clove notes ride alongside deep black cherry and berry fruit, and barrel spice elements are already imparting more flavor than structure. There’s great depth and concentration here, and there’s no reason to let it wait too long. I could enjoy the nose alone for hours.
