This producer refers to itself as a “Bodega Experimental” and it shows, as I would feel safe in betting that you have not had the chance to taste a Viognier from Uruguay. Keep in mind that this small county has both southern and eastern coastlines that meet the Atlantic Ocean, and that ocean influence is evident in her white wines. This wine was picked slightly underripe to keep the acidity on the racy side, and while it may be a bit sharp for solo drinking for some, it will sing alongside salads, spicy Thai or saucy seafood with its dry apricot, peach, bay leaf, sage, and dash of sea spray. Unique!
