This comes from my favorite zone for California Syrah, and it reinforces my preference for the area. It’s quite ripe, but it holds together nicely thanks to great acidity. Black and blue fruit, mild dried herbs, a dash of orange zest and a hit of savory character all play well together, and finish with full integration. I’m thinking venison steaks here.
