Light in both color and body, this wine does not taste particularly true to the varietal, or at least to the varietal in the Bordeaux-inspired, California-tuned style that so many American wine drinkers enjoy. It has seen little if any oak, is youthful and lively rather than deep and serious, and offers fruit flavors that resemble red much more than black fruits (strawberries and raspberries in particular). It’s also quite tasty, and comes at a bargain price. As long as you don’t come to it expecting something weightier, you’ll be pleased.
