Vinkara, Central Anatolia (Turkey) Kalecik Karasi 2012

Kalecik Karasi (kah-le-djic car-ah-ser) Vinkara’s high-altitude (1000-2500 feet) vineyard rises up in North central Turkey’s ancient region of Anatolia.  Not only is this an interesting and unusual red wine, it hits the taste buds in all the right spots with moderately sweet fruit flavors followed by a refreshing, savory finish.  With a medium body and finesse rather than power this will be an especially welcome addition to the dinner table in the warm months to come.
