Lushly textured and richly flavored this Spätlese is appropriately sweet and palate filling. For an older wine that has been well cellared (but not perfectly so), this sweet-ish Riesling is still remarkably bright and tasty, with notes of honey, citrus, a hint of floral, and still-vibrant acidity. Serve it well chilled as a dessert wine — with or without an accompanying dessert — or just as a late afternoon or evening special treat. A bowl of lightly salted nuts would be a nice accompaniment. This vintage is now extremely difficult to find, and the wine has become more expensive over the years since 2010, but Robert Weil is among Germany’s best vintners and Kiedrich Gräfenberg is the top vineyard owned by the family — and one of the very best in the nation.
