Austria, well known for their Grüner Veltliner, also makes excellent Riesling. Although there are significantly fewer Riesling plantings in Austria, according to the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, as of 2022, Riesling is the third most planted grape. This Riesling is sourced from the Ried Kugler vineyard and is part of Weinrieder’s Reserve Wine Selection. The wine is fruit driven with melon and pineapple supported by a bright but balanced acidity. A touch of minerality and clean, crisp finish are both signs of quality that shine through in this bottle. Overall, this is an outstanding bottle and classic expression of the grape.
