Cabernet Franc is frequently disparaged because it can produce wines that are somewhat green and often tanninc. Not so the Cab Franc made in Virginia, there the grape variety thrives and is one of the stars in the array of red wines produced there. This vintage from Williamsburg Winery is rich and dense, with smooth tannins and a lovely black-fruit character. It was awarded platinum at the fifth annual Winemaker Challenge in San Diego.
