The hits just keep on coming from the Zuccardi family, as I now add Cabernet Franc to its successes. Here is a 100% Cabernet Franc grown in the family’s vineyards at 3,600 to 4,500 feet of elevation in Paraje Altamira and San Pablo in the Uco Valley. This 2019 medium dark version offers a gorgeous bouquet of herbs, dark cherry, graphite and a little black pepper. Medium full-bodied, it shows nicely layered flavors and dusty tannins. It finishes with bright juicy fruit which suggests that it is better to drink it in the short term. But it will remain attractive through 2027.
